Chemnitz’ application for the Capital of Culture aims to involve the region intensively in the planning process. In particular, the aim is to create a real cultural region of Chemnitz, where reference is made to the various priorities of the individual municipalities. Oelsnitz in the Ore Mountains stands for its mining tradition, which over the centuries has driven the textile industry out of the city. At today’s meeting, cultural director Ferenc Csak and mayor Bernd Birkigt discussed initial project ideas.
