Andrea Pier will be the commercial director of Chemnitz Kulturhauptstadt Europas 2025 GmbH.

The company’s supervisory board has approved this important appointment. Managing Director Stefan Schmidtke will thus have a colleague with an international track record in the organisational and financial areas.

Andrea Pier has worked for Stage Entertainment for more than 20 years and thus for one of the world’s leading companies in the live entertainment sector – most recently as producer for the Berlin region and the touring business as well as personnel manager for more than 1,300 employees. She also managed Berlin’s Theater des Westens for many years.

She will take up her new position in autumn 2022.

Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: “I am grateful that we have been able to win over an internationally experienced expert who wants to help us shape the exciting path of the European Capital of Culture 2025. I am sure that she will succeed with expertise and passion.”

Andrea Pier: “I am really looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead of us. The title European Capital of Culture 2025 is an immense opportunity for Chemnitz, the region and Germany and I am proud to be able to work in a responsible position to realise and implement this.”

Founding Managing Director Dr Christoph Dittrich: “The organisation of the Capital of Culture is very complex and should set creative standards. That’s why it’s great to have found a managing director in Andrea Pier who is not only very experienced but also a doer type. It’s nice to have this spirit in the city, because the time until 2025 has to be used effectively.”

Stefan Schmidtke, co-managing director of the GmbH: “Great joy on the part of the team about this great reinforcement. Now the construction of the GmbH is picking up speed with the appointments to the departments. Welcome, dear Andrea Pier!
