It’s hot outside. Obviously, the water is very tempting there. And because swimming and being in the pool is also part of culture, we are out and about in the open air swimming facilities of the city throughout August. Together with the sports office of the city council and the respective bath operators you can enjoy “Cultur in Badelatschen” (“Culture in swimming shoes”). It takes place during the normal opening hours.
That means: music & moderation with Radio Chemnitz, a surf simulator, where you can test what it’s like to surf on the good wave and the Team Chemnitz 2025, which delivers information about our application and the process to all visitors. Of course, regional artists should not be missing either. So, the Wunschbriefkasten, Mazze Wiesner or Toni Müller and many more will perform live next to the swimming pools.

On the days of the event, only the normal entrance fee to the swimming facilities has to be paid, the additional programme is free of charge.

Team Chemnitz 2025 makes the swimming badge Seepferdchen (sea horse) test possible for you

In the time from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the days of the event, children also have the opportunity to take the official german swimming test Seepferdchen free of charge in the municipal open-air swimming pools (Gablenz, Einsiedel and Wittgensdorf). As there are currently no swimming lessons in the elementry schools, we as Team Chemnitz 2025 together with the sports office of the city council would like to give children the opportunity to take this important exam on their way to becoming a safe swimmer. Swimming and sports culture are also part of our application as European Capital of Culture 2025. Children who want to take the examination for the swimming badge can register with the pool attendant within the given time.
