…this was the name of a course which the TU Chemnitz offered as part of their Studium generale until a few years ago. Dr. Karl-Hans Möller, the former chief dramaturge at the Theatre Chemnitz/strong>, who initiated the course, was responsible for the direction and conception. In consultation with Dr. Möller, Nino Micklich and Frank Weinhold, who were inspired by the course as students, have revived “Art for Creativity” in 2017.

What is hidden behind creativity, what role do muse and intuition still play today, what is there to discover apart from rationality and feasibility? These questions are explored in monthly events. Artists open their studios, rehearsal rooms or theatres to visitors and people get into conversation with each other.

The project is conceived as a mediation, i.e. the participants should not grab a brush themselves during the meetings, but should get a feeling for the creative process of an artist through conversation, as well as internalize the meaning of art for life. In engineering professions the idea often prevails that there must be a concrete plan before anything is started – the desire for tangible projects dominates over utopia. From this field of tension, especially people with a technical background can find inspiration. In addition, the events should stimulate or promote the reception behaviour of the participants.
