For the fifth time, Chemnitz was called upon to get involved in city life with small projects on the way to becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2025. The application period ended on 30 September.

A total of 21 applications were received by the Capital of Culture Office this time, including several from young initiatives. Thematically, the projects deal, for example, with the design of urban spaces through art and also greenery, with the history of our city, with sport and cultural education for children and young people.

A total of 15,000 euros is available for this funding period. In addition, KLUB2025, an initiative of regional companies, chambers and credit institutions to support Chemnitz’ application to become European Capital of Culture 2025, has signalled its intention to provide additional funding for up to four applications in order to make further ideas possible.

The selection of which projects are to be supported is made by a jury of Chemnitz residents appointed by the programme council of the application.
