Three amateur tournaments in football, streetball and table tennis are new this year as part of the CHEMNITZ SPORTS OPEN. “With the CHEMNITZ SPORTS OPEN, we would like to give a small foretaste of the programme in the Capital of Culture Year 2025,” says Dr. Ralf Schulze, organiser and managing director of C3 Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, drawing attention to the planned new format. According to the motto “Sport connects and knows no borders”, the teams for the individual tournaments will be drawn by lot and thus new (sports) friendships of different age groups and cultures can develop. “We try to bring people of different cultures, social classes and interests together in mixed teams. We want to use the positive energy of games, fun and sport to connect people and enable a sense of community.” Ralf Schulze describes the idea.

The tournaments are held in two age groups. Young people aged 10 to 15 and adults aged 16 and over can take part. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the most sporting and creative teams. Registration is open until 30 June 2021 at
