Numerous sports clubs and sports providers invite you to join in and try out sports on 11 September 2021 at the stadium on Gellertstraße. Three amateur sports tournaments in football, streetball and table tennis are new as part of the first “Chemnitz Sports Open”.

Together with the Chemnitz Sports Association, C3 Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH is organising the third edition of SPORTY on 11 September 2021 in the stadium at Gellertstraße. In the surroundings of the football stadium on the Sonnenberg, you can expect an all-round sporting festival in the open air to try out and take part in. Those interested in sports can get an impression of the diversity of the Chemnitz sports scene at the SPORTY Mile. Around 50 clubs and sports providers will be presenting their activities, including fencing, figure skating, rugby, cricket, mountain biking, table tennis, archery, basketball and football. If you want to join a sports club or simply try out different sports, this is the place to be. Interested clubs can still register until 30 June 2021. Furthermore, all visitors can look forward to guided tours through the stadium, a great stage programme and the SPORTY flea market in cooperation with unikero e.V..

Three amateur tournaments in football, streetball and table tennis are new this year as part of the CHEMNITZ SPORTS OPEN. “With the CHEMNITZ SPORTS OPEN, we would like to give a small foretaste of the programme in the Capital of Culture Year 2025,” says Dr. Ralf Schulze, organiser and managing director of C3 Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, drawing attention to the planned new format. According to the motto “Sport connects and knows no borders”, the teams for the individual tournaments will be drawn by lot and thus new (sports) friendships of different age groups and cultures can develop. “We try to bring people of different cultures, social classes and interests together in mixed teams. We want to use the positive energy of games, fun and sport to connect people and enable a sense of community.” Ralf Schulze describes the idea.

The tournaments are held in two age groups. Young people aged 10 to 15 and adults aged 16 and over can take part. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the most sporting and creative teams. Registration is open until 30 June 2021 at www.sporty-chemnitz.de.
