Biennial for multimedia art will take place in autumn 2020 in the Wirkbau Chemnitz.

After the kick-off in 2018 on the topic “Wismut”, the multimedia biennial POCHEN will take place in its 2nd edition from 22 October to 1 November 2020 in the Wirkbau Chemnitz (Building G). The focus this year is on the theme “Treuhandanstalt”. The exhibition title “Prize of the Future” promises an exciting examination of an important chapter of Chemnitz’ contemporary history. Through an exhibition of international art and a varied accompanying programme with entertaining and scientific contributions, the facets of the Treuhandanstalt are discussed and references to the present and future are established.

Since 2018 POCHEN has been telling stories about the past, present and future. Every two years, the POCHEN Biennial is dedicated to topics that have a lasting impact on the people of the region and Germany. In order to build on the success of the 2018 exhibition debut and to further sharpen the festival’s profile, we organized an international symposium in 2019 together with representatives of our European partner festivals, network partners and top performers from art, science, technology and society. Lectures, workshops, explorations and public exhibitions and performances put us in the mood for the upcoming POCHEN Biennale 2020. The curatorial advisory board for the exhibition in autumn 2020 is made up of the Chemnitz artist Olaf Bender (Label Raster) and the established curator and art historian Sabine Maria Schmidt.
