A total of 72 extraordinary project ideas are written down in our Bid Book II. These convinced the jury and earned us the title “European Capital of Culture 2025”. Projects for the Capital of Culture programme are to be developed from these by summer 2023.
In spring 2022, we sent invitations to the structured project development process to the partners identified as leaders in the Bid Book II. All others involved in the respective projects were not yet contacted directly, but were to be informed via their lead partner.
What happens next?
All project ideas are screened and will be developed together with the project partners. We will provide you with a team of project developers to support you. The project development mandate associated with winning the title will be implemented according to the following principles:
Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025 GmbH examines all ideas from the BidBook II individually for feasibility and viability in a regulated procedure that is comprehensible for the projects.
Each feasible idea is developed into a functioning project plan, with individual attention being paid to the different stages of development.
Each project receives support from permanent contact persons within the Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025 GmbH as well as a general and individual capacity-building programme. Each project has a fixed agreement with Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025 GmbH for the project development process.
New ideas are welcome!
The ideas in the Bid Book II are not yet the whole programme for the Capital of Culture 2025!
New ideas and programme proposals will also enrich the year 2025. This call is then addressed to all people who have ideas – regardless of whether they already appear in the Bidbook II or not.
We will announce all the details on this date. Both the date of the opening of the call for entries and the end date will then be fixed – and we will give you information on the type of submission. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any ideas at the moment and ask for your understanding.
