The living room makes a stop at the Wolkenkuckucksheim on Sunday, August 13 from 13-17 o’clock and invites you to build a castle in the air. After all, hasn’t Chemnitz lost its grip on reality since it applied to become the European Capital of Culture? Is it building its own utopia, or does it remain stuck in reality?

Discuss with members of Freundeskreis2025 e.V. and staff of the Capital of Culture Office about the lunacy, challenges and opportunities of the application and share your ideas and thoughts with them.

Location: Wolkenkuckucksheim (in the spinning mill Chemnitz), Altchemnitzerstr. 27 – 09120 Chemnitz

the cloud cuckoo’s house (above itself):

All good things are known to be three and it is known that hackneyed phrases are stupid. But Wolkenkuckucksheim is going into its third edition this year, which means it has to be particularly good. Or rather: it will be especially good. From 11 to 13 August, a pastel-coloured playground will be thriving in the Spinnerei for all cultural philanthropists, sound art pornographers, kitchen philosophers, creative podologists and lots of bird-wild bird jokes.

Above all, however, for music: it is usually different, druff, skilful, delicate, wild, discoid, spherical, laboratorial and elaborate. It tastes of herbs and smells of green. The Wolkenkuckucksheim is not only the lovingly spun utopia, it is the free parking lot at the Kaßberg, the perfectly ripened avocado in the supermarket, the newly discovered superband that nobody knows yet, democracy and anarchy.
