SUMMARY:Except That You Cannot See Me | THEATER DER WELT
DESCRIPTION:Duration: 1 hInformation: In Korean and German with German and
English surtitles.\n\nAn unoccupied hospital bed stands onstage. A door p
rotrudes into the nearly empty room. Strange things come to pass. Will the
door ever open? Is there someone lying in the bed\, unseen? Nothing evide
ntly happens\, but the atmosphere in the room is constantly in flux. The b
ed moves\; it rises and falls. It tilts as if responding to the weight of
a person moving upon it. A voice flickers to life and describes the condit
ion of an invisible body. Its position\, its movements\, its breathing. Te
nsion hangs in the air\, driven by curiosity. There is something constantl
y happening.\n\nFrom 18 June to 5 July 2026\, Chemnitz will be in the inte
rnational spotlight: Germany's largest international theatre festival "The
atre of the World" is coming to Chemnitz - directly following the Capital
of Culture year 2025. For three weeks\, Chemnitz will be a meeting place f
or artists\, audiences and theatre enthusiasts from all over the world. A
lively celebration of the performing arts will take place on stages\, in u
rban spaces and in unusual locations\, overcoming borders and bringing tog
ether stories from all parts of the world.\nNine international curators fr
 om Australia\, Canada\, Colombia\, Argentina\, South Africa\, Greece\, Jor
dan\, India\, Senegal and China are responsible for the festival programme
. They will meet in Chemnitz in November to select around 40 outstanding p
roductions - works that they have previously viewed in their regions. The
result is an inspiring panorama of current theatre forms\, languages and p
 erspectives.\n\n
