aße\n\nKlub Solitaer e.V. is organising the Dialogue Fields residency pro
gramme as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Internati
onal artists are invited three times to live in Chemnitz for six weeks at
a time and work on the theme of favour.Katariin Mudist (Tallinn\, Estonia)
and the artist duo Marie Donike and Johannes Specks (Cologne) have been g
uests on the Sonnenberg since 19 May. They are living here\, getting to kn
ow the city\, meeting people from Chemnitz and developing new artistic ide
as. They are accompanied by the Chemnitz artist and ceramist Viet Phuong N
guyen (TIEV)\, who is developing his own artistic response. The results of
the residency programme are now being presented in the form of artistic i
 nterventions.Katariin MudistPassby2025\nKatariin Mudist (b. 1994) is an Es
tonian artist who deals with the complexity of humanity and its manifestat
ions in our social world. In her work\, she combines humour and irony to e
xamine social norms\, value systems and materiality. During her residency
\, Katariin engages with the residents of Sonnenberg. Secretly and sometim
es voyeuristically\, she observes the people passing by and documents them
in these fleeting and inconspicuous moments. Based on this\, she later mo
ulds small clay figures that could have been taken from a board game."The
work reflects on presence\, representation and collective identity and tra
nsforms everyday encounters into a playful archive of shared space. I am i
nterested in how we see others\, how we are seen and how these brief impre
ssions form the structure of a place."In doing so\, she deliberately focus
es on the everyday\, the unspectacular\, and tries to get closer to the es
sence of Sonnenberg\, which makes up the neighbourhood: its people. Over t
ime\, these strangers become increasingly familiar to her\, and she create
s a sensitive monument to them - one that blurs the boundaries between por
trait and abstraction and allows individuals to perhaps recognise themselv
es\, but also opens up the field for a collective experience.\nFurther inf
