DESCRIPTION:9 to 27 NovemberMon\, Fri and Sun: 2-6pmTue-Thu and Sat 10am-6
pmMon and Fri mornings for school classes and groups on request: mehrkens@
kulturkirche2025.de\nChemnitz and the surrounding areas are one of the old
est regions in Europe - and therefore rich in experiences\, memories and s
tories. The cross-generational History of Citizens project is unearthing t
his treasure: young people interviewed people aged 60 and over from Chemni
tz and the Capital of Culture region about crises and opportunities in the
ir lives. Primary school children process these interviews artistically. T
he resulting works show how people emerge stronger from life crises\, what
dignity there is in age(ing) and how valuable the perspectives of older p
eople are for understanding our present and future.\nThe exhibition in the
Garage Campus presents the results in multimedia form: Video and sound in
stallations\, photographs\, texts\, artistic works and interactive element
s make it possible to experience the diversity of life stories. A varied a
ccompanying programme of talks\, concerts\, workshops and lectures invites
visitors to enter into a dialogue between the generations themselves.\nTh
is creates a lively exchange that has an impact far beyond the city limits
. History of Citizens is also a cooperation project with the European Capi
 tal of Culture Nova Gorica/Gorizia in Slovenia/Italy - a region that\, lik
e Chemnitz\, was characterised by the division of Europe. Together\, memor
ies are preserved\, bridges are built and a piece of contemporary European
history is recorded for the future.\nMonday and Friday mornings for schoo
l classes and groups on request: mehrkens@kulturkirche2025.de
