SUMMARY:Climbing over Chemnitz
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Climbing over Chemnitz’ project is developed by Le Pl
us Petit Cirque du Monde\, with the support of Chemnitz 2025\, European Ca
pital of Culture\, and in close cooperation with the Tanz | Moderne | Tanz
festival (Germany) and the SE.S.TA choreographic development centre (Czec
h Republic). It will bring together European artists in order to create pe
rformances and site specific events inspired by the inhabitants and urban
landscapes of Chemnitz and to build new collective acts for showcasing the
city's urban and human heritage.\nThe idea of the project is to work with
artists from France\, Germany and Czech Republic to create new collective
acts and highlight the urban and human heritage of towns that have much i
n common. Chemnitz (Germany) and Žďár nad Sázavou (Czech Republic) hav
e a rich traditional heritage that was rapidly transformed into heavy indu
strial zones\, which has had an impact on present-day society. The ‘Clim
bing over Chemnitz’ project aims to re-enchant collective memories and e
nable different communities and countries to meet\, work and create togeth
er through the performative arts.\nThis project is a performance of modula
r circus and contemporary dance\, combining shows and performances in citi
es\, in collaboration with Czech\, German and French artists and communiti
es. It explores the role of artists in a world undergoing ecological\, soc
ial\, economic and cultural transition. \n\nDistribution\nArtistic direct
