SUMMARY:FUNKEN Echoes| Encounter between science and art
DESCRIPTION:For one week\, artists worked together with researchers from C
hemnitz University of Technology in the field of tension between art and t
echnology. Based on the high-tech laboratories\, materials and research fo
cuses of the three research centres TU MAIN\, TU MERGE and TU MeTech\, exp
erimental prototypes and artistic works were created that make the interpl
ay between science and artistic practice tangible.\nThe exhibition shows t
he results of interdisciplinary workshops focussing on questions of materi
ality\, perception and interaction: How can nanotechnology be experienced
visually and haptically? What relationships are created between man and ma
chine through movement\, language and sensory interfaces? And what aesthet
ic\, narrative or speculative possibilities are offered by new bio-based m
aterials such as GEOBRIS\, which is made from mealworm faeces?\nThe works
presented open up a variety of perspectives on current technological devel
opments and invite us to rethink future scenarios between art\, science an
 d society.
