SUMMARY:FUNKEN Night #5 - Testbeds
DESCRIPTION:Over the past few months\, a landscape of artistic works in th
e field of tension between art and technology has emerged at Funken Space.
The basis for this is an inquisitive exploration of the relationship betw
een man\, nature and technology.\nYana Zschiedrich is an interdisciplinary
artist focussing on artistic research. Her work operates at the interface
of materials research\, sustainability and experimental art practice. In
her current projects\, she deals with ecological challenges and combines i
nnovative material research with a profound artistic exploration.\n"Hybris
" is an art-based research initiative that demonstrates innovative ways to
repurpose waste materials into art and building materials. Since 2019\, Y
ana Zschiedrich has been exploring this concept by integrating mealworms a
s participatory elements in the creative process. This collaboration enabl
es the transformation of expanded polystyrene into biodegradable materials
that can be used in the construction industry as a sustainable alternativ
 e to sand.\n\nEvent programme:\n\nFrom 17:00 - Open Doors17:30 - Hybris wi
th Yana Zschiedrich\nYana Zschiedrich's research initiative Hybris investi
gates the complex relationship between humans\, nature and the built envir
onment. She develops innovative approaches - such as Geobris\, a sustainab
le building material she designed - to rethink the interface between conce
pt and materiality. Her works critically reflect on human hubris and explo
re ways of designing art and architecture in harmony with ecological princ
iples.\n18:30 - Guided tour through FUNKEN Currents\nThe FUNKEN Kolleg exh
ibition marks the conclusion of an intensive artistic-research dialogue. O
ver the course of several months\, art\, science and business have researc
hed\, experimented and networked with each other beyond academic boundarie
s - in pursuit of common questions. Following the lecture\, there will be
an opportunity to get to know the resulting works.\nThe evening will be ro
unded off with music\, drinks and stimulating conversation in a convivial
 atmosphere.
