SUMMARY:Go Back to Where You Came From | THEATER DER WELT
DESCRIPTION:Duration: 1 h 30 minInformation: In Portuguese with German and
English surtitles\nAt 77\, Ana Gigi from Cape Verde takes the stage as an
actress for the first time in Lisbon. At her side is Keli Freitas from Br
azil. She is an immigrant to Portugal and works as an artist. Both women p
resent themselves as chroniclers of their respective origins in this show.
In Freitas’ search for the traces of her Portuguese-Brazilian family hi
story\, the young artist initiated both personally and politically motivat
ed research on current issues of belonging and citizenship. The experience
is a show spanning four generations\, as profound as it is sensitive\, ab
out closeness\, memory – and about the right to be there.\n\nFrom 18 Jun
e to 5 July 2026\, Chemnitz will be in the international spotlight: German
y's largest international theatre festival "Theatre of the World" is comin
g to Chemnitz - directly following the Capital of Culture year 2025. For t
hree weeks\, Chemnitz will be a meeting place for artists\, audiences and
theatre enthusiasts from all over the world. A lively celebration of the p
erforming arts will take place on stages\, in urban spaces and in unusual
locations\, overcoming borders and bringing together stories from all over
the world.\nNine international curators from Australia\, Canada\, Colombi
 a\, Argentina\, South Africa\, Greece\, Jordan\, India\, Senegal and China
are responsible for the festival programme. They will meet in Chemnitz in
November to select around 40 outstanding productions - works that they ha
ve previously viewed in their regions. The result is an inspiring panorama
of current theatre forms\, languages and perspectives.
