SUMMARY:Installation - eight planets\, one star\, one world (2025) by Misc
 ha Kuball
DESCRIPTION:It is about the human desire to explore the universe\, from ob
serving it with the eyes to looking through a telescope and travelling int
o space. Ten rotating disco balls form the centre of the installation. The
ir mirrored surfaces are illuminated by stencils so that the names of the
nine planets and a star are reflected as shreds of light on the walls\, ce
iling and floor. The interlocking light reflections of the mirror balls co
nnect the dark space and swirl the letters of the planetary names. A unive
rse of its own is created.\nMischa Kuball is a conceptual artist. He uses
the medium of light to explore architectural spaces as well as social and
political discourses and his works reflect aspects ranging from socio-cult
ural structures to urban topographies. Mischa Kuball has been Professor of
Art in Public Space at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne since 2007.
