A workshop will be held to prepare for the performance. Registration for

JUEGOS x Oxymoron brings movement into the city. What happens when people
who have never met begin inventing new games together? When the point is n
ot to win\, but simply to take part? When rules are not fixed in advance\,
but evolve collectively?Artist Checho Tamayo\, born in Colombia and now b
ased in Madrid\, draws on the experience that play and movement are woven
into everyday life. In Colombia\, street football is part of growing up. D
ance becomes part of protest and a way for neighbourhoods to come together
. Movement often creates a sense of community – not just competition. For
five days in Chemnitz\, volunteers from across the city meet and collabor
ate with athletes from Athletic Sonnenberg. People of different ages and b
ackgrounds come together\, with or without experience in dance or sport.
They try out simple movements\, listen to one another\, invent rules and e
xplore what works. Step by step\, new games take shape somewhere between f
ootball\, dance and ritual. The focus is on team spirit rather than rivalry
. On imagination rather than performance. On the pleasure of experimenting
together. During the final festival weekend\, these newly invented games
appear in public space – on squares\, in passageways\, perhaps even on t
he tram. Suddenly the city itself becomes a playground. Passers-by can wa
tch\, reflect\, or join in spontaneously. LOS JUEGOS x Oxymoron invites ev
eryone to consider a simple yet farreaching question: How do we want to pl
 ay\, and live\, together?From 18 June to 5 July 2026\, Chemnitz will be in
the international spotlight: Germany's largest international theatre fest
ival "Theatre of the World" is coming to Chemnitz - directly following the
Capital of Culture year 2025. For three weeks\, Chemnitz will be a meetin
g place for artists\, audiences and theatre enthusiasts from all over the
world. A lively celebration of the performing arts will take place on stag
es\, in urban spaces and in unusual locations\, overcoming borders and bri
nging together stories from all parts of the world.\nNine international cu
 rators from Australia\, Canada\, Colombia\, Argentina\, South Africa\, Gre
ece\, Jordan\, India\, Senegal and China are responsible for the festival
programme. They will meet in Chemnitz in November to select around 40 outs
tanding productions - works that they have previously viewed in their regi
ons. The result is an inspiring panorama of current theatre forms\, langua
 ges and perspectives.\n\n
