DESCRIPTION:The historyOn Sunday\, 11 July 1897\, pupils of the Komotau gr
 ammar school organised a special charity event: a junk exhibition. The inh
 abitants of the town brought old\, unnecessary objects\, which the pupils 
 remodelled and gave new names and meanings. For example\, a simple broom w
 as transformed into a "bear rifle". Everything was sold with humour\, and 
 the proceeds went towards the construction of a new gymnasium - today's sp
 orts hall. The exhibition might have long been forgotten had it not been f
 or Karl May's visit. The famous writer donated to the collection and sent 
 his friends in Hamburg a postcard with verses in which he referred to the 
 Komotau "junk exhibition" with a smile.\nAnd today?128 years later\, there
  is a reunion.The Výstava harampádí / Junk Exhibition transforms the Ku
 lisárna space in Komotau into a lively marketplace where things take on n
 ew meanings and everything comes to life through improvised theatre. The e
 xhibited and sold objects are designed by the participants of the You May 
 Help workshop.\nNow it's your turn!Take a look at what you no longer need 
 at home and give things a second life: the collection runs until 6 October
  2025\, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00. Artist Tereza Zemanová and a
  team of local artists will take care of your items. The results will be o
 n display at Kulisárna on 19 October.\nThis is what you can expect:- newl
 y designed objects "what the house had to offer"- short theatre scenes at 
 the stands- Brambůrky theatre play - Hansel and Gretel with a difference-
  Auction of heroes - auction of strange objects and figuresAnd who knows -
  maybe Karl May will turn up again.\nFor a good causeAs in 1897\, the exhi
 bition has a charitable purpose today. The proceeds will support the Paren
 t Project in Droužkovice.
