DESCRIPTION:The Chemnitz Chess Cup is a women’s team rapid chess tournam
 ent that views chess not only as a sport but also as a cultural asset\, an
 d aims to promote it as such. The values embodied by chess are tolerance\,
  openness and equality of opportunity. Eight teams\, each comprising four 
 female players from all regions of Germany\, will compete against one anot
 her in chess. The games will be commentated on live on site for spectators
 .\nAs well as playing chess\, participants get to explore the Capital of C
 ulture and make new friends. Women are in the minority in chess. That is w
 hy we want to help this group connect better and support them – across g
 enerations. Our tournament features both young female players and women ag
 ed 80 and over. No other sport offers such a great opportunity to bridge t
 he generational divide and engage with one another. We aim to provide the 
 platform for this.\n\nDates:\nMatches will take place on Saturday between 
 2 pm and 6 pm\, and on Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm. Spectators are very 
 welcome.\nThe opening ceremony on 22 August at 1.30 pm and the prize-givin
 g ceremony on 23 August at 2 pm are also open to the public.\nAnyone inter
 ested in the colourful cultural evening (by invitation only or by prior re
