SUMMARY:Micro-project | Open workshop series: From idea to object
DESCRIPTION:“From Idea to Object – Creating Together at vectorlab” i
s an open series of workshops that invites people from Chemnitz – partic
ularly from the diverse Sonnenberg neighbourhood – to turn their own ide
as into tangible\, usable objects. The starting point is always a very pra
ctical question: What’s missing from your everyday life? What could be m
ore practical\, more attractive or more sustainable?\nOver three sessions
in September\, participants will work together to develop\, design and bui
ld small everyday objects such as stools\, wall brackets or shelves – us
ing a CNC milling machine\, laser cutter\, 3D printing and traditional cra
ft techniques. 11 September is dedicated to brainstorming and design\; on
18 September\, the building and fabrication take place\; and on 25 Septemb
er\, the objects are finished and the project is wrapped up together. Depe
nding on the scope of your own project\, attending all three sessions is n
ot strictly necessary.\nThe format is deliberately not a traditional theor
y-based workshop\, but focuses on collaborative creation: experimenting\,
learning from one another and supporting each other. No prior knowledge is
required – people with craft experience\, an interest in technology or
simply practical everyday questions work together as equals. Between work
sessions\, we’ll bake pizza together\, and drinks will be provided.\nAt
the end\, each participant will take home an object they have made themsel
ves. Participation is free of charge\, but places are limited.
