DESCRIPTION:18. NOVEMBER 2024 UNTIL 18 JANUARY 2025:\nEXHIBITION "MODERNIS
 M IN UKRAINE" ON SHOW IN CHEMNITZ\nThree chapters of the six-part exhibiti
 on series on architectural modernism in Ukraine are now on display at the 
 Wirkbau in Chemnitz\, the European Capital of Culture 2025. The exemplary 
 exhibition parts 3\, 4 and 6\, each with around two dozen exhibition panel
 s\, show\nthe work of architects of Jewish origin in Lviv\,the imposing en
 semble of Svoboda Square with the Derzhprom building in Kharkiv anda selec
 tion of the designs for the Ukrainian State Theatre that were created in 1
 930 as part of an international competition.\nAll three thematic sections 
 emphasise the importance of Ukraine in the development of modernist archit
 ecture and raise awareness of the shared European heritage of this turbule
 nt era and the devastation of the war in Ukraine.\nThe exhibition series\,
  funded by the federal government\, was created in cooperation with Ukrain
 ian and Polish academics. It was developed as part of the "Triennale der M
 oderne" festival in 2022 and shown for the first time in Berlin. The curre
 nt installation in Chemnitz is supported by the Federal Foreign Office\, K
 ul'tura e.V. and the Ukrainian Institute in Germany. After Chemnitz\, the 
 exhibition will travel on to Kharkiv.\nSpecial programmes will take place 
 on 6 December 2024 and 18 January 2025\, during which the Ukrainian schola
 r Svitlana Smolenska will guide visitors through the parts of the exhibiti
 on she has developed and the curators of the project will also be represen
