SUMMARY:Mr G. is afraid
DESCRIPTION:And once again the end of the world is looming: crises\, wars\
, disasters. We are living in frightening times\, perhaps even in the "age
of fear". More and more people are suffering from diffuse fears\, with al
most one in two people in Germany taking a pessimistic view of the next te
n years. But what if fear no longer had the last word? What if it were pos
sible to live well with it?\nThorsten Glotzmann is a journalist and author
. He will be reading from his book "Mr G. is afraid". A non-fiction book a
nd at the same time a humorous story. His character Mr G. struggles with p
anic attacks\, disaster scenarios\, fears of loss and failure. Until he de
cides to no longer allow himself to be paralysed by his great fear. He set
s out in search of effective anti-anxiety strategies and finds them in phi
losophy\, behavioural therapy and psychological research\, but also in jaz
z clubs\, running and Buddhist spirituality.\nMr G. realises that anxiety
is more than just a "disorder": there is value in it - the deep need to le
ad a good life and to clarify existential questions: What is really import
ant to me? Where can I find comfort and love? How can I calm the inner voi
ce of fear\, the "inner critic"? And how can I overcome the fear of death?
At the end of his hero's journey\, Mr G. is a different person. And if he
can find a way\, then everyone can!\nThorsten Glotzmann works as a journa
list\, author and director in Berlin. In his films and texts\, he explores
the question of how to live a good life. As the author of the arte docume
ntary series Unhappy\, he sets out in search of happiness. Previously\, he
produced the philosophical arte format Streetphilosophy and the WDR podca
st Carpe What. He studied philosophy\, German and French literature and at
tended the German School of Journalism in Munich. In his first book\, he t
ackles the subject of his life: fear.
