SUMMARY:Mutikkappatâta | THEATER DER WELT
DESCRIPTION:Duration: 1 hInformation: In French with German and English su
rtitles. \nIn Mutikkappatâta\, actor Nathalie Vairac comes to grips with
history\, its legacy endlessly lingering. Her solo work originates in her
own biography. Born in Bordeaux\, the daughter of an Indian mother and a
father from Guadeloupe\, her attempt at narrative comes right up against t
he colonial past that still shapes bodies\, languages\, and movements toda
 y. Colonial history appears here not as an historical chapter\, but as a q
 uiet\, stubborn\, constant presence.\n\nFrom June 18 to July 5\, 2026\, Ch
emnitz will be in the international spotlight: Germany’s largest interna
tional theater festival\, “Theater der Welt\,” is coming to Chemnitz—
immediately following the city’s year as European Capital of Culture in
2025. For three weeks\, Chemnitz will become a gathering place for artists
\, audiences\, and theater enthusiasts from all over the world. On stages\
 , in public spaces\, and at extraordinary venues\, a vibrant celebration o
f the performing arts will unfold\, transcending borders and bringing toge
ther stories from all corners of the globe.\nNine international curators f
 rom Australia\, Canada\, Colombia\, Argentina\, South Africa\, Greece\, Jo
rdan\, India\, Senegal\, and China will shape the festival program. In Nov
ember\, they will meet in Chemnitz to select around 40 outstanding product
ions—works they have previously scouted in their regions. The result wil
l be an inspiring panorama of contemporary theater forms\, languages\, and
  perspectives.
