SUMMARY:No Secret - Pop up exhibition Schacht 371
DESCRIPTION:This temporary exhibition offers exclusive insights into a pre
viously inaccessible part of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří UNESCO World Her
 itage Site.\nBetween generators\, mining machines and depth indicators\, h
ighlights shed light on the history of the Wismut company and provide an i
nitial outlook on the future.\nWismut shaped world politics in the 20th ce
ntury. It was a key factor in the Cold War. With its uranium production\,
it played a decisive role in the rivalry between the nuclear powers in Eas
t and West and rose to become the world's largest uranium ore mining compa
ny\, ultimately affecting people throughout the GDR. Its ambivalent legacy
also included a partly highly radioactively contaminated post-mining land
scape\, which has been undergoing remediation since 1991 as an unprecedent
ed large-scale ecological project.\nIn order to anchor this world-class hi
story in the public consciousness\, three presentation sites are planned f
or the Wismut heritage - one of which will be built at Shaft 371 in the ne
 xt few years.
