SUMMARY:Open Process: of data collections\, networks and public memory
DESCRIPTION:In three artistic works\, students at the Karlsruhe University
of Arts and Design (HfG Karlsruhe) explore questions of remembrance pract
ices in different ways and how the NSU's crimes and their social backgroun
d can be made visible and tangible. The focus is not only on the crimes th
emselves\, but also on the structures that made them possible - from state
failure to society looking the other way.\nThe works each approach the to
pic from a different perspective: with an installation on data and its str
uctural management\, an interactive audio-based network analysis of the st
ate NSU environment and a performance that inscribes memories in the urban
space using a high-pressure cleaner. They invite visitors to engage with
the continuing effects of right-wing violence and ask what role art can pl
ay in visualising repressed histories and in collective remembrance.\nArti
sts: Josephine Leicht and Chelsea Kim\, Rosa Maar and Julian Jaffe as well
as Alina Virnich.\nDirector: Prof Charlotte Eifler\, Mixed Realities\, De
partment of Media Art HfG Karlsruhe\nThe event will be held partly in Germ
an and partly in English.\nAn event in co-operation with the HfG Karlsruhe
