SUMMARY:Parole d'eau / Water Words | THEATER DER WELT
DESCRIPTION:Duration: 55 minInformation: In French with German surtitles\n
Parole d‘eau / Water Words offers an invitation to perceive water in a n
ew way: as a precious resource\, a connecting link\, and a carrier of memo
ries\, voices\, and stories. De signed for audiences aged six and above\,
this theatre piece aims to arouse curiosity and expand the imagination wit
hout providing simple answers. Two women\, two worlds\, two per spectives:
one of the women grew up in a region where water\, snow\, and ice are omn
ipresent. The other knows water as something that must be sought\, carried
\, and shared. The long-standing col laboration between Senegalese artist
Mamby Mawine and Canadian puppet eer Hélène Ducharme has now given rise
to a poetic piece of puppet theatre. The play pivots around an element tha
t has always determined our lives\, and whose importance is often underest
i mated in this country.\n\nFrom 18 June to 5 July 2026\, Chemnitz will be
in the international spotlight: Germany's largest international theatre f
estival "Theatre of the World" is coming to Chemnitz - directly following
the Capital of Culture year 2025. For three weeks\, Chemnitz will be a mee
ting place for artists\, spectators and theatre enthusiasts from all over
the world. A lively celebration of the performing arts will take place on
stages\, in urban spaces and in unusual locations\, overcoming borders and
bringing together stories from all over the world.\nNine international cu
 rators from Australia\, Canada\, Colombia\, Argentina\, South Africa\, Gre
ece\, Jordan\, India\, Senegal and China are responsible for the festival
programme. They will meet in Chemnitz in November to select around 40 outs
tanding productions - works that they have previously viewed in their regi
ons. The result is an inspiring panorama of current theatre forms\, langua
 ges and perspectives.
