SUMMARY:The other side of the story
DESCRIPTION:...as the smallest form of theatre\, it lives only from facial
expressions\, gestures\, voice\, rhythm and the free play of words.\nThe
place we call "the foreign" is perhaps not foreign at all. You could also
say that "the foreign" is only a question of perspective. Wherever we look
\, an "other" appears to us as a "stranger". But aren't we ourselves also
"a stranger" in the eyes of "the other"?It is the differences that often h
urt us. But they also connect us - in shared pain and in the longing dream
of belonging. Fairy tales and stories dissolve invisible boundaries. The
y connect us as we listen and whisper to us that the so-called "stranger"
is only a part of ourselves.\n\nA storytelling adventure that looks at the
other side of a story and an event for adults.\n\n"I am interested in the
traditional stories that have been told for 1000 years. They are not old\
, they are universal. But I always ask myself when selecting them\, what r
elationship do they have to the problems of contemporary life\, what quest
ions can they answer?" (Thüringer Allgemeine\, 24/11/2017)\nNazli Çevic
Azazi is a theatre teacher\, storyteller and children's book author. Train
ed at the Berlin University of the Arts\, she founded the SEIBA Internatio
nal Storytelling Centre in her native Turkey in 2015 to establish a new st
orytelling network. She received the Thuringian Fairy Tale Award in 2017 f
or her great commitment.\nContributors: Nazlı Çevic Azazi (TUR)
