DESCRIPTION:Vernissage: "The PURPLE PATH\, a region in Europe. With works
by Uli Aigner and Peter Weibel"with Uli Aigner and Elisabeth Schweeger (Di
rector of the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024)in
the castle church of Chemnitz\nThe Austrian artist Peter Weibel (1944-2023
) shaped media art for decades and was head of the ZKM | Centre for Art an
d Media Karlsruhe for a long time. In 2010\, he developed an artistic exam
ination of the history and development of Europe with the video work "Euro
pa - Ein Umschreibeprogramm".\nUli Aigner\, whose large-format works "Item
s 3501" and "3502" are located in front of the Alte Dampfbrauerei in Löß
nitz\, has been working on an ongoing porcelain project for years. Each of
her approximately 12\,000 vessels to date bears an engraved number\, is g
lazed\, fired and becomes part of a larger artistic context. Aigner was al
so commissioned by the Friends of the Cultural Region Chemnitz 2025 e.V. t
o create a porcelain vessel for each of the 38 municipalities involved in
the PURPLE PATH. The works\, which are currently on display in the region'
s town halls\, will be brought together for the exhibition and installed i
n Chemnitz Castle Church.\nElisabeth Schweeger will give a sermon at the o
pening.\nAn event organised by Friends of the PURPLE PATH e.V. in collabor
ation with the St. Petri Castle Church Parish of Chemnitz\, Kulturkirche 2
