SUMMARY:What's new? Textile-artistic food for thought
DESCRIPTION:30 renowned international textile artists were invited by cura
tor Gudrun Heinz to artistically and creatively explore the deliberately o
pen theme "What's new?". Needles and threads were used to sew\, embroider
and weave\, fabrics were dyed\, painted and printed\, textiles were manipu
lated\, repurposed and placed in new contexts. A wide variety of technique
s\, including their own\, were used to tell stories\, reflect cultural ide
ntities or negotiate political\, social and personal issues using threads\
 , fabrics\, wool\, paper and other materials.\nVisionary ideas\, the varie
ty of materials and the technical expertise of the artists made it possibl
e to create unique and innovative works of art: Figurative and abstract wo
rks\, art quilts\, installations or textile objects speak for themselves\,
but also occasionally enter into dialogue with the museum's own exhibits.
\nThe five-storey façade of the museum was covered with 200 fine tights i
