<Steffen Jacob was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1956 and lives and works in Chemnitz. At the training centre for polygraphy at the TU Karl-Marx-Stadt he was active in teaching. He is a designer and game developer. On the day the Berlin Wall fell on 9 November 1989 he was accepted as a caricaturist into the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR. In 1990 he founded the advertising agency Punkt 191 together with Jürgen Schöberl and Ronald Bartel and is responsible for project management, conception and graphics. Since 1987 he has participated in national and international exhibitions, mail art projects and poster competitions. Steffen Jacob is a member of BEDA – European Design Association and of Kreatives Chemnitz. He is involved with the Citizens' Foundation for Chemnitz, the German Society for the Rescue of Castaways and the Saxon Hans-Carl von Carlowitz Society for the Promotion of Sustainability. Steffen Jacob has donated parts of his private Mailart archive to the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz.
