Rolf Lieberknecht studied architecture at the TU Berlin and fine arts at the Royal College of Art in London. He has also received scholarships and fellowships in London, New York, California and Massachusetts. Since 1971 Rolf Lieberknecht has regularly participated in exhibitions and received various prizes and awards. From 1989 to 2012 he was professor of sculpture and three-dimensional design at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Since 1993 Rolf Lieberknecht has had his own studio in Einsiedel.
