As an offer during their summer festival last year, the fan project of the Chemnitz AWO created a second Flag Painting Day after 2013 and received a micro-project grant for this. Especially children were allowed to paint double holders and waving flags with their favourite motifs from the city or for CFC and football all day long free of charge. They were supported by creative heads from the fan scene.

The flags were shown at the following home games of the Chemnitzer FCs. The hope of the AWO fan project was to strengthen the children and young people in their bond with the city and that they would continue to deal creatively with the topic of fan culture.

The AWO Fan Project Chemnitz has been in existence since 2007 and the employees are committed above all to children and young people and to peaceful coexistence in the football fan culture of Chemnitz FC. The project is supported by the city, the Free State and the DFB and works according to the guidelines “National Concept Sport & Safety” (NKSS). The project helps to reduce violence and extremism in the football fan culture. It is the link between fans, clubs, police and associations.
