The Liaison Office of the Free State of Saxony in Prague traditionally celebrates its summer festival at the beginning of September. On this occasion Chemnitz recently introduced itself to the people of Prague in rooms near the Charles Bridge. The event was organized by the Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE) together with the City of Chemnitz’s cultural department.

200 invited guests including representatives of the Free State of Saxony, the city of Chemnitz and the Czech government attended a reception last Friday on the occasion of the Summer Festival of the Free State of Saxony in Prague. The Chemnitz program there highlighted the whole range of the Saxon metropolis, which is on its way to becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2025. Raster/Noton presented an audio/video performance with the artist Frank Brettschneider, originally from Chemnitz, live performances by George Crump and Ensemble 01 from the municipal theatre.

Furthermore, the Mozart Society and the Mozart children as well as the Trio Strike of the Municipal School of Music provided musical entertainment. There was also music by DJ Monkeyman and a visual presentation of the Morgenstadt project by VJ Aero (atomino). The TU Chemnitz with the world’s first printed electric motor presented itself as well as Chemnitz itself with its future projects, including the application for the European Capital of Culture 2025, the support programme KRACH and projects for the city’s 875th anniversary. The smac provided an insight into the exhibition planned for 2018 on the subject of “Relationship History Saxony-Bohemia” together with the National Gallery Prague. Also on display were sculptures by the artist Michael Morgner as well as banners of the art project “For Peace and Tolerance” of Action C.
