STRAW INTO GOLD is a textile upcycling club founded by women in and out of prison. In a two-part workshop series at Chemnitz Prison and in a garage at the Kulturhaus Arthur, they work on damaged, discarded garments, practising visible mending and paint- ing, printing or decorating them. Everyone is invited to join in. In a parallel exhibition at Kulturhaus Arthur, documentary photos taken by inmates of Chemnitz Prison provide an insight into the creative and artistic processes happening inside the prison walls.

The upcycling workshops will take place from 14 - 16 August at Kulturhaus Arthur. On 14.08 and 15.08 from 15:30 -19:30, on 16.08 from 12:00 - 15:30.
The accompanying exhibition ‘Straw into Gold’ will take place from 14 August to 14 September.
