Claudia Walde alias MadC was born in Bautzen (former GDR, East Germany) in 1980 and grew up in Ethiopia. While she started with graffiti in the 90s, she later studied at Burg Giebichenstein, the art academy in Halle, as well as at Central Saint Martins College in London. She has a master's degree in graphic design. She is not only a talented and aspiring artist, but also a professional writer on graffiti and street art, showing her cultural and anthropological knowledge. She published Sticker City - Paper Graffiti Art (2007) and Street Fonts - Graffiti Alphabets From Around The World (2011). One of the most notable works was the 700-Wall (2010), a 700 square metre work. This mural is probably the largest piece of graffiti created by a single person and was completed in four months.

Today, she can no longer save herself from requests for murals and solo exhibitions. Her huge facades are spread all over the world, Mexico, USA, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Germany, Tahiti, to name but a few.

MadC was already part of the very first HALLENKUNST in 2010 and the second edition in 2011. Now she has returned to Chemnitz to work in the CAMMANN Studios as part of the HALLENKUNSTt artists-in-residence and leave behind a wonderful mural in the heart of Chemnitz on Johannisplatz.

Their works, which were created during a two-week artist residency at CAMMANN Studios, will be shown in the HALLENKUNST group exhibition in October 2025 (Markthalle Chemnitz).

"Thanks God It's Friday" is a preview exhibition that introduces the artist and her work through a series of canvases and the artist talk "Beyond Graffiti", in which her work is discussed and why graffiti art plays such an important role in the biography of every artist participating in HALLENKUNST.
