"The East" remains somehow different? East is not the same as East. The workshop will focus on social development in countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic after the Soviet era. A look at the neighbouring countries shows that socialism was not the same as socialism and (East) Germany is not the same as Western Europe. What today's generations know about the collapse of the Soviet Union comes from school books and stories, but the after-effects of these upheavals can still be felt in everyday life. For participants aged between 18 and 27. Following on from this, there will be an online conference with three countries in summer 2025, organised by the (k)Einheit group, so a good knowledge of English is desirable.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
