European Workshop for Culture and Democracy

Involving and supporting local actors from civil society and bringing them together with allies from Europe - that is the aim of the European Workshop for Culture and Democracy. A wide range of offers are created with a special focus on intergenerational exchange. Cooperation between Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland is another focus.

The projects flow into the Chemnitz 2025 programme as a result of calls for proposals. The project creators are supported in the preparation and implementation of their ideas. To this end, there is a program for building cultural skills that accompanies the process and offers consulting services, educational workshops and networking.

The discourse events and workshops as part of the competence-building program are funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Competence building

We can only be a Capital of Culture together! The competence-building programme involves people, facilitates joint dialogue and helps stakeholders to implement their projects. It invites people to take part in calls for proposals, supports the implementation of projects with workshops and educational opportunities and organizes public discussion events under the motto "What can the Capital of Culture do in Chemnitz?"

Targeted preparation is needed to turn an idea into a concrete project. To this end, local skills are developed through educational and advisory services. The aim is to connect project creators with European contacts, to start a conversation about setting up the project and to find fellow campaigners and supporters. In workshops, project partners receive concrete support in implementing their ideas.
