Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture for 2025, but since the riots of 2018, it has primarily been associated with the rise of right-wing extremism. The award offers Chemnitz a great opportunity to correct its own image and address existing problems. Against this backdrop, the authors of the new publication "Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025" bring together a wide range of social and cultural analyses. The result is a portrait of an often unknown, but not least symbolically significant city that is now in the spotlight throughout Europe and unites a variety of perspectives beyond existing clichés.
