Lehngericht Augustusburg

As part of the "Children make Augustusburg" project, the Lehngericht is setting a new milestone in the promotion of co-determination and democracy education with the "Council of Little People". This innovative body offers children the opportunity to play an active role in shaping their town and the Lehngericht and to contribute their ideas and concerns.

"Der Rat der kleinen Leute" is a platform for young citizens to raise their voices and help shape the future of their community. People between the ages of 6 and 12 are welcome to join the council, which meets regularly to discuss current issues and initiate projects that enrich life in Augustusburg. "Children are the future of our town. With the 'Council of Little People', we want to show them that their opinions count and that they can actively influence things," explains Nadine Knödler, project manager of "Kinder machen Augustusburg" from the "auf weit Flur" association. "We want to promote a culture of participation and mutual respect in which children learn to take responsibility and find solutions together."

All children between the ages of 6 and 12 who live or go to school in Augustusburg are welcome to join the "Council of Little People" and get together every second Wednesday of the month to brainstorm ideas over lemonade and cake and, of course, realise them.
