Opening the series, Alexander Gadjiev performs works by Robert Schumann, Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninov. The multi-award-winning musician comes from the Italian-Slovenian border town of Gorizia. Music is a medium that transcends borders – as is evident not only from its ability to absorb different styles and languages, process them and reshape them according to individual taste. In his roles as festival director, pianist, improviser, speaker and educator, Alexander Gadjiev also put together the first cross-border festival »Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti« in his home town in summer 2024. He is Cultural Ambassador for Nova Gorica / Gorizia, the other European Capital of Culture 2025 alongside Chemnitz.
