Creativity and craftsmanship
This year, the Maker Advent will once again show guests and visitors the potential that lies in Chemnitz and the region. Workshops, associations, cultural initiatives and artists, creative minds, educational institutions and museums from Chemnitz and the region can now submit their offers for exciting workshops and interesting courses for Maker Advent 2024. The hands-on offers can be as varied as you like. Whether carving, woodturning, lace-making, knitting, drawing, baking, soldering, lasering, programming or 3D printing - everything is allowed and, above all, encouraged.
Far away from the pre-Christmas stress, visitors can unleash their creative potential, design Christmas objects of all kinds and learn new (craft) skills at the same time. In this way, the courses and workshops not only help to strengthen the sense of community, they also inspire guests for the traditions and cultural heritage of the European Capital of Culture 2025 and the region.
The brochure for the Maker Advent 2024
The offers of the Maker Advent 2024 will once again be presented in a high-quality brochure, which will be available from mid-October in public institutions in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region, the Tourist Information Centre in Chemnitz and the Chemnitz City Hall as part of events. The Maker Advent offers can also be found on the Chemnitz 2025 website. An appealing design presents the variety of ideas, while at the same time giving visitors an overview of the creative workshops and courses during the Advent season.

Participation
There are no costs for the inclusion of an offer in the brochure. The Capital of Culture team is responsible for design, production and distribution. All providers will be informed promptly after submission whether their participatory offer will be included in the brochure of the 2nd Maker Event (by 13 September 2024 at the latest). We ask for your understanding that not all submissions can be considered. In particular, offers that are more of a wellness or sporting nature, for example, are unfortunately not suitable for the brochure. In particular, we reserve the right to edit submitted texts to ensure that they address the target group appropriately.
The first Maker Advent took place in 2023 and was a complete success! Enthusiastic makers met interested visitors and people who shared their passion for craftsmanship, art and culinary delights. Over 60 creative people offered guests a varied programme. This resulted in connections and inspiration that continue to this day.
