Do you remember? Last year we launched the first city-wide flowering meadow campaign in Chemnitz and proved that the Capital of Culture starts right on our doorstep.

The flowering meadows are not only a splash of colour in every district of the city, but also a great source of food for various insects. This year, we therefore wanted to continue our project and have also doubled the flowering meadow area. There are now 32 colourful meadows covering an area of 20,000 m². Wow!

We now want to celebrate this success together with you! We invite you to our Blühwiesenfest on 11 August 2021. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the meadow at Wenzel-Verner-Straße 84 – 90 will be transformed into a colourful festival site.

With a bouncy castle, trampoline, handicrafts, delicious food and good music, there will be something for everyone. There will also be information on the current status of the Capital of Culture.

And if you’ve always wanted to learn more about the history of the old airport and the Heckert area, you can look forward to author and urban area researcher Norbert Engst, who will provide exciting insights and tell many interesting stories. As a special highlight, he will also accompany a small guided tour through parts of the former airport building.
