Maker Advent 2023

For the 2023 Advent season, Chemnitz 2025 bundled hands-on activities in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region with the first Maker Advent: from Christmas woodturning, lace-making, baking, carving, knitting, printing and drawing to soldering, lasering, programming and 3D printing.

The Maker Advent brochure was distributed in Chemnitz and the region in tourist information centres, adult education centres, libraries, town halls, cultural institutions, open workshops and online via the Capital of Culture channels as a digital version. This created visibility for the countless workshops and studios in Chemnitz and the region and connected people through the theme of Christmas.

The brochure motivated people to go beyond pre-Christmas consumption and create their own products and learn new (craft) skills in the process. The courses and workshops helped to strengthen the maker mentality and sense of community, while at the same time inspiring guests in the city and region for local traditions and cultural heritage.

It impressively demonstrated the diversity of creative workshops, studios and actors in the Capital of Culture Chemnitz and the region.
