For the European Capital of Culture year 2025, a former car dealership along the PURPLE PATH in Neukirchen/Erzgebirge is being transformed into a maker hub, making it a central location where makers from all over the world can meet, learn from each other and create something new together.

This could already be experienced at the second MAKERS DAY and the subsequent open Saturday at the Makerhub NETZ-Werk. Together with the Landesverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e.V., project manager Josephine Hage and the Förderverein - FreundInnen der europäischen Kulturregion Chemnitz 2025 e.V., the municipality of Neukirchen/Erzgebirge and Mayor Sascha Thamm organised the event.

They built raised beds together with the Holzkombinat, made music together and learnt how this actually works in a DJ workshop, baked orchard apple pie, discovered contemporary ice skating from IceLab Leipzig, developed new ideas for the maker hubs, learnt quite a lot about

Blockchains & artificial intelligence and honoured outstanding makers in the cultural region.
