Last summer, the Etzdorf substation and the Lehngericht in Augustusburg were named Makerhubs of the European Capital of Culture 2025, making them part of a total of eight locations in the cultural region that are being developed into creative centres.

The first Makerfestival took place here last weekend: In keeping with the motto "On the move", the festival invited people to join in and discover. It started with a joint bike tour from Augustusburg to Etzdorf, followed by numerous hands-on activities in the substation, from an upcycling workshop to a bicycle cinema, exhibitions, music and guided tours of the historic building.

By the way: the next Makerfestival will take place on 17 June, this time at Buntspeicher Zwönitz.

As part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz2025, the Makerhubs are places where designers, craftspeople, entrepreneurs, the next generation of skilled workers and makers from all over the world come together to learn from each other and create something new together. An overview of all locations can be found here.
