Summer, sun - maker time! On Friday, 16 August 2024, the Makerfestival Erzgebirge invited visitors to the Fürstenplatz in Schneeberg. In an enchanting setting, visitors were able to give free rein to their creativity at 21 stands on the Fürstenplatz!

In the morning, school classes explored the hands-on stands before families and passers-by took advantage of the creative offerings in the afternoon: Colourful fans to combat the heat were created at the stand of the Trubel in der Poche cultural association, robots were programmed by the Tech Teens from Leipzig and the Kreatives Erzgebirge association had the Mike Rockstroh printing company from Aue and its historic printing press with which visitors could print their own notebooks.

The Ore Mountains took centre stage at the Erz-Gelapp offerings and at the stand of the Makers, Business & Arts project of the Capital of Culture: Buttons, postcards and earrings with Erzgebirge dialect were created here - Gauf!

But that was not all, visitors were also able to try their hand at: Tetrapak upcycling, tufting, laser stamping, felting, producing animated films, playing wind instruments, plotting postcards, bending metal sheets, ... There was knocking, sounding, throbbing, painting, rattling and laughing all around Fürstenplatz.

The festival was organised by Chemnitz 2025 Makerhub Kulturwerk Schneeberg, which will be moving into a building on Fürstenplatz next year with workshops, a café and a cultural stage. The Makerhubs from Lössnitz and Augustusburg also took part with their own offerings, while the Makerhubs from Zwönitz and Neukirchen / Erzgebirge and the Goldne Sonne cultural centre were co-organisers. The festival was also supported by the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, the Erzgebirge Regional Management and Kreatives Erzgebirge e.V.

There will also be a Makerfestival Erzgebirge in the European Capital of Culture year 2025, then in the town of Lößnitz.
