The Esche Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna is one of the nine creative hubs that are being created as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. The focus of this maker hub is on textiles. During the Maker Advent, the Chemnitz 2025 badges in the form of small beanie hats were created on a historical circular sock knitting machine. Various knitting samples were made and materials were put together experimentally. The yarn used was provided to the museum from leftover stocks. Participants in a creative workshop then made up the knitted fabric, i.e. turned it into small hats and made pins out of it.

The Makerhub Textil at the Esche Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna is a centre of excellence with a focus on knitting and ready-to-wear, creating an interface between research, development, industry, design and production. In future, textile professionals, designers, developers, students, researchers, start-ups and companies will come together at this centre to develop prototypes, small series or artistic works. The maker hubs are creative spaces for networking, exchange and presentation.
