Yesterday, a team from the City of Chemnitz and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH presented the status of preparations for the European Capital of Culture year 2025 to a panel of experts from the European Commission for the third and final time.
Participants included Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Ferenc Csák, Project Officer for the European Capital of Culture at the City of Chemnitz, the Co-Managing Directors of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, Andrea Pier and Stefan Schmidtke, stakeholders from the programme and marketing teams and other partners involved in the organisational preparations for the upcoming title year.
The digital meeting with the expert panel of ten international members is preceded by the third monitoring report, which the City of Chemnitz submitted to the European Commission on 8 October.
The comprehensive report documents the progress made and further plans in areas such as programme development for the title year, the status of the intervention areas and maker hubs in the city and the region, the management of Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, as well as the plans in the area of evaluation and impact research.
During the discussion, the panel of experts was also interested in the ongoing networking of the city and the main cultural region, especially with European partners, the status of legacy planning and welcome management measures for 2025.
Last but not least, there was an outlook on the communication strategy for "C the Unseen" and the communication measures planned for the programme launch.
The counter-report from the expert commission is expected at the end of November. This is expected to contain the committee's final comments on the implementation of the programme year and the subsequent legacy process, which is intended to secure the long-term effects of the European Capital of Culture title.
Note: Once the report of the expert commission is available, the City of Chemnitz and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH will invite you to a press conference.
