Beyond geometry. Frei Otto × Kengo Kuma
A programme in honour of Frei Otto’s 100th birthday
Like no other, Frei Otto gave fundamental impetus to architecture in the second half of the 20th century. His pioneering spirit and his work in lightweight construction served as inspiration to numerous architects, engineers and artists worldwide. Among them was the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.
Frei Otto was rarely associated with his birthplace of Chemnitz-Siegmar. A multi-part programme, developed by numerous partners and consisting of events, workshops and exhibitions, was designed to highlight him as an important figure in Chemnitz.
