Frei Otto fundamentally influenced the architecture of the second half of the 20th century like no other. His pioneering spirit and his work in lightweight construction were a source of inspiration for countless architects, engineers and artists worldwide. Among them is the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Frei Otto is rarely associated with his birthplace Chemnitz-Siegmar. A multi-part programme, curated by numerous partners and consisting of events, workshops and exhibitions, will highlight him as a significantly important personality from Chemnitz.
